My absolute favorite sugar cookie recipe. The perfect dough for cut out sugar cookies!

Makes about 24 cookies depending on cookie cutter shapes and sizes

Ingredients:

  • 3 CUPS ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR PLUS MORE FOR ROLLING

  • 2 TSP. ALUMINUM-FREE BAKING POWDER

  • 1 CUP 2 STICKS SALTED BUTTER, AT ROOM TEMPERATURE

  • 1 CUP SUGAR

  • 1 LARGE EGG

  • 1 TSP. PURE VANILLA EXTRACT

  • 1 TSP. PURE ALMOND EXTRACT

Instructions:

  • Beat butter and sugar for about 1 min.

  • Add in flour and baking powder to mixture. Do not over mix. Mixture should form into a ball. It should be soft not sticky.

  • Wrap dough into a piece of plastic wrap and flatten out dough into a 1 inch disk. Refrigerate for 10 min before rolling.

  • Preheat oven to 375

  • Roll out dough onto a lightly floured surface. About 1/4 of an inch thick. Adding more flour as needed to prevent dough from sticking.

  • Once you have your desired cut out shapes place on cookie sheet on middle rack for 7-8 min until cookies puff up. Cool cookies before frosting.

Buttercream Frosting Recipe:

  • this recipe makes a lot of frosting so that you can make a variety of different colors to Frost your cookies with.

  • Mix all ingredients together adding the milk in last. Separate into bowls and add food coloring of choice. Put into piping bags and frost away!
